For many of us, New Years is more than just a holiday. A lot of people look at New Year’s Eve as not just the biggest celebration of the year, but an opportunity for a fresh new start – that eventually leads to creating resolutions. Some of us create a resolution to focus immensely on health, while others come straight to the point of improving their academic or professional career.

The bitter truth is, we go into the year with a very positive intent of making incredibly good on these goals, but it doesn’t take too long for the majority of us to give up on New Year’s resolution.

Decide & Commit to Making a Change:

You can’t succeed until you are committed to bringing a change. No matter how incredibly amazing your resolutions are, you can only achieve them if you are willing to create a true change. Therefore, once you have decided to change some aspects of your life, stick to it and make it happen.

Document What You Want:

After all, we are humans. So, write down your goals. And, it is always good to adopt an old-school approach of writing your goal on paper or in a journal. Moving forward with a clear mindset and getting it documented keeps you in the right state of achieving your goals.

Measure Your Progress:

Keeping track of your progress is key to success, as it provides you with a lot of room to identify your mistakes and bring improvement whenever required. For instance, if your New Year’s resolution is to be healthier, how are you going to measure it? You can only do that if you are creating an achievable timeline of your goals and measuring your progress regularly.

Keep Going:

As you move forward, you will be faced with multiple challenges. Even sometimes, you will have a feeling that you have failed completely, but you don’t have to give up. Instead, move forward and ask yourself, what will it cost me if I am unable to accomplish this goal?

Just like these, there are many tips to keep New Year’s resolutions, but you need to make sure that you don’t tie your goals to the new year because this is what everyone else is doing.
